Medical treatment is critical for children to succeed in schools. By providing these children with eye exams and glasses their ability to learn greatly improves.
Many children have experienced trauma prior to coming to the orphanage. Some have emotional scars from witnessing a parent being murdered. Others have ailments from malnourishment or resulting from physical abuse. Orphans are not typically seen regularly by medical personnel and only minor illnesses are treated. But what about the children who require advanced treatments and long term medication? Many times these children do not get the requirement medical attention simply due to funding. It comes down to a simple equation - help one child that requires regular medication or help the rest of the children in the orphanage with food and clothing.
Well visits are not known to oprhans. Many times illnesses that could easily be treated if caught early, are not seen until they result in major issues requiring medication the orphanages cannot afford.
